This page will introduce me a little bit more; give an overview of my life and working experience.
1980s-90s
I was born in 1982 in the town of Vologda on the north of what use to be called the USSR at that time. When I was 6 we moved to the south of Russia to the town of Krasnodar (near The Black Sea). In the same year (1989) I started school.
My first computing experiences come later in the year as I joined the “Radio and electronics society” at the school. The purpose of the society was to introduce children to the basis of electronics and computing. As pupils we had access to“clones” of ZX Spectrum called “Leningrad”. Computers have been mainly used to play games but some pupils, including me, tried to execute some basic instructions.
Eight years later in 1997 I completed the core school programme and decided to continue my studies in a professional college (equivalent of High School but with some extra professional modules). I successfully graduated from college having achieved good marks and mainly A* (equivalent) in physics and IT.
2000 – 2010.
In summer of 2000 I got a job at the local TV company working mainly with production of the advertisement media. In September 2000 I got a place at Krasnodar State University of Culture and Art on the course of TV and Cinema Management and Technology. In the same year I built my first modern computer. From the very first moment I was more interested in computers internal architecture and programming rather than just playing games. I started to learn HTML and tried to create different sorts of websites. While experimenting with HTML I created my first more or less professional website - Gwynne House (www.gwynnehouse.co.uk) for which I provide technical support even now.
In 2001 I started working in local office of largest Radio Broadcasting company in Russia as sound engineer, and got promoted to the position of manager for customer liaisons 7 month later. I left the company in January 2003 in an attempt to make career in IT.
In December 2002 I joined the Regional Centre for Science and Methodology of Culture in the role of computer engineer. I was responsible for general computing support and networking. I worked for the centre until 2004.
In 2004 I switched from full time studies to part time which gave me more freedom in choices for planning my career but at the same time allowing me to complete the university degree. Having free time I came to the United Kingdom to learn English in order to help me to get a better job in computing. After 10 month in April 2005 I passed IELTS test at the Cambridge University with grade 6.0. I returned to Russia where I successfully passed university exams and received my degree.
Later this year I have been accepted on the Computer Science/Software Engineering course at the University of Birmingham.
During my studies I have been awarded a School Of Computer Science scholarship for outstanding academic achievements. In my first year, while living at the university provided accommodation I have been a member of Student Connect Self Service Group helping students in residents to setup network connections and general computer troubleshooting. During my second year I was Student Tutor for Fresh Overseas Students helping them to adapt to live in the UK.
In 2008 I have been awarded Second Class (Upper division) degree.
After graduation I has been offered a place on the MSc Course in Internet Software Systems at the University of Birmingham and also offered International Student Master's Scholarship of £3000 for achievements in my Bachelors degree.
In September 2009 I have completed my MSc with Distinction and got my first job as a software developer in December.
2010 - Present
In January 2010 I've joinned OpenBet Technologies Ltd as a Software Developer where I am still working now.
